Bo and Janice Welborn have been the owners of Rebel Alternator in Laurel, Mississippi, for the past 30 years. They opened the business in 1975 and have been at their present location, 2033 Ellisville Blvd., for the past 26 years.
Bo was born and raised in Jones County. He and Janice own and operate a small farm in the Glade Community in Laurel. They've always enjoyed farming which led to their interest in tractors and farm equipment. Bo and Janice recognized a shortage of tractor dealers in Jones and surrounding counties.
After making inquiries with several tractor companies, Bo decided to go with Mahindra tractors. Mahindra started making tractors in 1947. Today Mahindra ranks among the largest tractor companies in the world.
Dixie Tractor opened on November 1, 2001, at 2031 Ellisville Blvd., next door to Rebel Alternator. Along with Mahindra tractors, Dixie Tractor carries a good line of used tractors ranging in price from $1,000 to $10,000 as well as farm equipment such as cutters, box blades, disks, fertilize spreaders, etc. Dixie Tractor also has zero-turn Gravely mowers and Shindaiwa yard equipment (weed-eaters, blowers, edgers,).
The parts department at Dixie has parts in stock for John Deere, Ford, Massey Ferguson and others.
Dixie Tractor is Christian owned and operated. Come by anytime Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM until 4:30 PM. Just ask for Bo or Janice. Or talk to sales manager, TJ Weekley.
